Travel Safely: Olbia Costa Smeralda International Airport

AHA Safety Certification

On January 27, 2021, Olbia Costa Smeralda International Airport received the “Airport Health Accreditation” certification for COVID-19 health procedures.

Sardinia confirms its efforts to preserve safe tourism looking forward to summer 2021.

Together with 13 other Italian airports (Milan Linate and Malpensa, Bologna, Orio al Serio, Verona, Naples, Turin, Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, Crotone, Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria and Palermo), the important recognition comes from the Airports Council International, an organ of international control that operates in more than 1,900 airports worldwide.

Olbia Airport, managed by Geasar, was evaluated based upon the protocols of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), of ECDC (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control) and of EASA (European Union Aviation Safety). The complex guidelines examine safety parameters such as the effectiveness of the procedures implemented in terms of sanitation and cleaning of airport spaces, protective equipment for service personnel, digital and paper communication for passengers throughout the journey, and the preservation of distances based on the monitoring of passenger flows.
